2010: A breakthrough for MusicNet West

MusicNet West was established in 2005 as direct result of co-operations between Western Norway institutions about the arrangement of the 25th World Conference in music education (ISME). After a somewhat troublesome start the network started afresh in 2008 via the extended co-operation between West- Norwegian institutions in higher education. The first week of December 2010 marked a definite breakthrough for the network with its third conference on “The Effects of Music”, a cross-institutional week long course on musical communication, and the establishment and opening of the new research school, “Grieg Research School in Interdisciplinary Music Studies”. All activities were well attended and feedback has been very positive, something which is promising for an even better year in 2011. The next seminar in the research school, which will take place at Stord, Western Norway June 14 th till 17 th, is being planned and will soon be advertised with the working title: “Aesthetical and Creative Learning Processes.
